Resurrection

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. Romans 6:5-6 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin. RESOURCE (link and attachment) LET US PRAY: God of all hope, help us not to lose heart. We see so much that is different, changing, and uncertain. Some of which is necessary. Some of which we question. In our limited vision and knowledge, give us grace to trust You, Your sovereign hand upon us, and Your eternal purposes working out for a better future. Thank You for the Resurrection, the sign that what is shall not always be, the promise that things cast down are being lifted up. So fill our lives with Your real and certain hope, that we hold fast and don't fear the complexities and magnitude of our struggle, but see Your Resurrection power working in us all to bring Your kingdom. Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, who conquered all sin and the grave, Amen. After reading today’s scriptures, prayer, and resource, reflect…

  1. What does the Resurrection mean to you?

  2. How do you think the Resurrection can help us achieve racial justice?

  3. How can we move past temporary sympathy and support to committed awareness and action?

  4. What questions does this devotion bring up for you?

Be sure to journal your thoughts. We will have a collective discussion about this series on Wednesday, JUNE 24 at 11AM. RSVP to let me know your participation, and I will send you the Zoom link.
