One Nation Under God

Psalm 33:12-15 “Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. The Lord looks down from heaven; he sees all humankind. From where he sits enthroned he watches all the inhabitants of the earth— he who fashions the hearts of them all, and observes all their deeds.” I and many other Christians in the United States still claim that we are one nation under God. We choose Him, because He first chose us. What is God seeing now when He looks down from heaven? Are we acting well towards our fellow man, individually and as a nation? God knows what our gifts are since He gave us these gifts. Our heart should be like His, since we were made in His image. So, God is watching to see if our deeds match up to who we claim to be, followers of Christ. Jesus spread the good news, that God is for us, not against us. He taught people, fed people, healed people, and set them free from their life of sin. He inspired others to follow him. Are we doing this? We should be actively helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves. We should be spreading messages of hope and making plans for the future. Let us pray: God, raise up your Holy Spirit in us, so that we may be the people that you have called us to be. Give us your heart of love. Lead us through this valley of shadows that surround us. Help us to use your gifts wisely. And Lord, we pray for the leadership in our country, that they may act in a Godly manner, not in a self-serving manner. In the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
