God’s Plan
Acts. 1:6-8
“Then they gathered around Him and asked Him, “Lord are you at this time going to restore the Kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The disciples thought that Jesus was going to free Israel from Roman power, and then be their earthly king. That was not God’s plan. His plan was to have Jesus be their spiritual king. The disciples were to be his voice promoting the word of God which they had learned from Jesus. They were to be blessed with the Holy Spirit to give them guidance to do this task. It’s natural to be concerned about worldly affairs, and seemingly unnatural to be concerned about supernatural (spiritual) affairs. Jesus taught us not to be concerned about worldly issues. The world is full of judgment, pride and selfishness, all of which leads us away from his light. He taught us to love one another, even our enemies, for we all are brothers and sisters in God’s eyes. Let us pray: Dear God, help me strive to do your works, seeking to follow the Holy Spirit and be open to His super ways of love and peace. Amen.
