Take Courage – Don’t Be Afraid
Matthew 14:25-31
During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid “ “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water”. “Come” Jesus said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
In these difficult times it is easy to lose one’s focus. To forget our faith and lose sight of who we are, and who our Master is. Use these trying times to strengthen your faith, and maintain your service to our Lord. Listen to the Holy Spirit working through you, and try to filter all of your thoughts and concerns through Him. God Bless you all.
Let us pray:
"Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to You, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly Yours, utterly dedicated unto You; and then use us, we pray Thee, as You will, and always for Your glory and the welfare of Your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen." (BCP 832-833)
