Jars of Clay

April 11, 2019

Back at the beginning of Lent, CHS members brought in jars or mugs and labeled the bottom of each one with the owner's name.  Then, we exchanged these jars or mugs with each other.  This was for 2 purposes: pray regularly for the person whose jar/mug you got, and place money inside that you would've spent on the item/food/craving you gave up for Lent.

For example, I gave up sodas for Lent.  I would regularly drink 6-7 sodas per week, so take on average $7/week x 6 weeks of Lent = $42 in my jar/mug.

So how are you doing?  Are you praying for your person?  Have you let "dying to self" lead you to new patterns of thought or behavior?  When we deny our flesh, we rely on the Spirit.  May your new life be experienced more and more, and may it be represented by new provisions for CHS!

Bring back your jar/mug with your sacrificial giving on Easter Sunday. "Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and make good thy vows unto the Most High" (Psalm 50:14).
