It is difficult to separate the various components of community
life since they are so inter-connected. All people at Church
of the Holy Spirit are part of God’s healing community
in action!
These are the words that we use to express the idea
of community life ...
First, the community life team at
CHS wants to
INVITE new people into the Church
of the Holy Spirit congregation.
We
WELCOME
all people to the church, both visitors and old friends alike.
People at Church of the Holy Spirit
CARE
about each other. We help each other out when a need arises.
We pray for one another. We offer assistance when we can.
We SHARE in the family life celebrations.
Births and Birthdays, Baptisms, Holidays, Weddings and Anniversaries,
are all reasons to celebrate God’s blessings at Church of the
Holy Spirit. Even Funerals and Memorial Services become Celebrations
of Life.
At Church of the Holy Spirit we
ENCOURAGE
all members to be part of the community life team. People help
with providing a time of fellowship after service on Sunday.
We often have other fellowship events like pot-luck lunches,
a fabulous dinner for women just before Christmas, a Steak-Out
BBQ for the men, men’s breakfast usually once a month, fun events
for the children. God has given each person talents and we delight
in seeing those talents and gifts come alive for the benefit
of all. Cooking, decorating, organizing, supplying, cleaning,
planning, cheering, drawing, shopping, just being there, are
all welcomed.
We STAY INVOLVED in the
lives of our fellow members with special groups called Shepherd
Groups. Each group meets together at least once a month for
a time of worshipping God, eating a meal together, studying
a scripture together, catching up with each other and praying
for each other. The Shepherd Group is an important part of the
fabric of our church. Shepherd Groups meet in various homes
across our community, from Venice to Palmetto.
Finally,
community life is about being willing to
SERVE.
We serve each other and we serve those who come to Church of
the Holy Spirit for special events like healing conferences.
We believe that in serving others, we also serve our Lord, Jesus
Christ. So we will “serve wholeheartedly, as if serving
the Lord, not men.” Eph. 6:7
